first, a lot of cartridges have chips in them which get set when the printer is empty. in order to refill the cartridge, you also have to reset the chip. Second, newer cartridges have chips which self-destruct when empty and can not be reset. Third, cartridges are not designed to be refilled. while you may get away with it often, there is a risk. Depends on the model of printer.





Try holding on the paper feed button for 5 seconds to disable ink-level detection. That worked on my Canon printer.
There are no chip resetters for the Canon.





Unlike Epson, canon's chip is very heavily encrypted and cannot be overridden.
