i hate printers! if youve got a Cannon you should have an advisor or something that is saying hey your out of ink. well when it pops up you should see something you can click. just look around on the Cannon advisor thing and you should find reset. if not look for a reset button on your printer. if nothing else just unplug your printer from the wall and your PC for like 30 seconds. if that doesn't work go dig up the book to your printer..
You cant. Ink levels on any make of printer never show as full once refilled unless you have chipped cartridges and and use a chip re-setter. As long as it prints that's the main as a lot of printers - Epson and Lexmark particularly - won't print with refills full stop.
Your replacement inkjet cartridge may be defective, so I would try replacing it first. If that doesn't work, then I would contact Cannon tech support and get them to trouble shoot it, and if they cant get them to replace the printer. Good luck!

HOld resume for 9 seconds. It will not reset the counter, however it will clean the error message.

You will need to do this every time you print.
