I bought a refill kit for ink on my Epson printer, and Win XP Pro doesn't detect the ';full'; cartridges.?

Never a problem like this with expensive replacements, why?I bought a refill kit for ink on my Epson printer, and Win XP Pro doesn't detect the ';full'; cartridges.?
It's not the windows that won't detect it but the Epson printer program that came with it.

You should have specified the model. You might have to purchase the reset chip which , nowadays, come with the refill kit :). Google your model and see if it comes with a reset (I am almost sure it does). Companies are getting smart. ONce you have the reset chip (easy to install), then you can refill your cartrdiges. But take note that you are only good for 3 refills normally. Otherwise , you can damage the print head itself.I bought a refill kit for ink on my Epson printer, and Win XP Pro doesn't detect the ';full'; cartridges.?
I have one suggestion for you, to prevent the printer showing ';no inks'; or “not recognize”, please try to follow these instructions below:

1) Turn on the printer; take out the cartridges

2) Turn off the printer for a few minutes

3) Turn on the printer, when it says ';insert inks';, and then insert the compatible cartridges one by one, making sure the cartridges are sitting completely in the slots.

If it still not working, you have to buy a chip resetter of Epson.
Howdy

You can thank Epson for that condition. It will not indicate full but it will work OK. They want you to buy their expensive unit, so once it has been empty, this will happen on a lot of them. I guess on some of them they can be reset. The store that refilled your unit should have told you about this.

This has always been a source of my complaint against the printer companies. Alot of them give you a good deal on the printer, but they don't tell you about the price for the cartridge. There are companies that do sell cartridges that are cheaper and will indicate full when they are installed.
If your printer was manufactured after March 2007, it can't be reset. Refills in general are a dangerous practice. They will often work until the one time they not only fail but damage the printer. Read http://ccs-digital.com/refills.asp While you're there, check out their epson cartridges for under $3 which hold 66% more ink. I've been using these for years. No mess, no risk, and I don't even think you save money refilling.
It's the printer. It will not print with refills unless you re-set the chip. You will need to make sure that the one you get is for your model as there are loads of them. This is the sort of thing we are on about.

Go to http://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store/ and look for the CISS that fits your printer. I use is for my Epson CX9400, it paid for itself in less than 1 month. The unit will reset the carts when needed.
The chip on the cartridge needs to be reset with every refill in order to the printer to register a full cartridge.
